Introduction

The Africa Relief Committee works in the field of urgent relief, emergency and people development, It was established in the city of Birmingham in Britain in 1984 in response to the principles of mercy and the need for humanitarian duty, and in response to the famines that swept some of the African countries at that time, and then developed its work and continues to provide aid The different humanity {Medical, Nutritional, Social and Education} of the people affected by disasters around the world, including Somalia and Somaliland.

The position and basic qualifications are as follows:

Responsibilities:

  • Dispense the medicines prescribed by the doctor to the patients
  • Ensure patients receive the right medication which has been prescribed by the doctor
  • Record and document the drug consumption tally sheet on daily bases
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly drug consumption reports to the pharmacy technician
  • With the support of the pharmacy technician ensure that all medical supplies including drugs are entered in the pharmacy stock cards
  • Maintain stock in and out system regularly
  • Ensure that all drugs are kept at a relevant temperature and distributed according to the African Relief Committee Procedures.
  • Inform the pharmacy technician about shortage of medical supplies including medicines’ expiry dates or those damaged.
  • Maintain up to date record of all medical supplies/drugs in the pharmacy
  • Ensure proper storage of all items as per their specific storage requirements
  • Advise on any relevant pharmaceutical issue when called upon to do so
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology equivalent.
  • Registered by the relevant and credible body or graduated from an accredited institution
  • Minimum three (3) years working experience in a hospital/health facility set-up.
  • Fluent in English and Somali. Fluent in Arabic is an added advantage.

Required Competencies

  • A mature person of high professional discipline and moral integrity.
  • Competent to work under stress as the situation may dictate.
  • Ability to work with displaced communities with diverse cultural and ethnic background.
