Job Purpose: | As Finance assistant, ensure supporting documents checked for completeness, adequate | |||||
authorization and coding prior to the issuing of the payment. All payments are recorded in | ||||||
the cashbooks and supporting paperwork is filed on daily basis following Concern | ||||||
procedures. | ||||||
The performance of this role will require flexibility as the exact duties will vary depending | ||||||
on a number of factors in Somalia. Additionally, excellent time management skills will be | ||||||
required to cope with the disparate duties. | ||||||
Main duties & | Main duties | |||||
Responsibilities: | ||||||
ü Effectively handle the day-to-day Mogadishu Office financial transactions which | ||||||
include receiving cash, making payments, and recording transactions in the excel | ||||||
cashbooks on daily basis. | ||||||
ü Ensure that cash is securely managed at the Mogadishu Office and cash handling | ||||||
procedures adhere to Concern guidelines. | ||||||
ü Make payments at the Mogadishu Office by presenting cash requirements to the | ||||||
Finance Officer to meet due programme expenditure. | ||||||
ü Review and ensure that all expenditures are adequately approved, properly coded | ||||||
and supporting documentation adhere to Concern and donor requirements. | ||||||
ü Maintain floats record and ensure that they are properly accounted for upon their | ||||||
expiration. | ||||||
ü Maintain accurate cash books and ensure they are submitted to the Finance Officer | ||||||
on the 2nd of the following month for review. | ||||||
ü Carry out weekly cash counts and ensure that the finance officer sign off the cash | ||||||
count sheet after verification. | ||||||
ü Carry out physical inventory count of the Mogadishu Office on quarterly basis and | ||||||
provide fixed asset information to the Finance Manager. | ||||||
ü Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records all the time. |
Communication and Reports
- Ensure regular communication with the Finance Manager, Finance officers and cash facilitator is maintained at all times.
- Sharing the cash and cash facilitator books with the senior finance officer on monthly basis.
- Undertake other appropriate tasks as requested by the Finance Manager.
- Assist the senior finance officer – partners in keeping partner filling up to date.

and remaining within the boundaries of these policies at all times. | ||||||||
Ensuring, along with all staff, that all activities are implemented and managed in a | ||||||||
transparent participatory manner and in line with Concern Worldwide policies and | ||||||||
procedures. | ||||||||

Person specification: | QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: | |||||||
ü Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration or any other related fields | ||||||||
ü At least 1 year professional experience with INGO’s | ||||||||
ü Good interpersonal and communication skills | ||||||||
ü Commitment to working in a team | ||||||||
ü Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task | ||||||||
ü Strong computer skills especially spread sheets | ||||||||
